No Greater Love
On a dark and dismal day
about 2000 years ago,
a group of soldiers
tortured a lamb as to entertain the audience with a show.
With fierce blows the whip
whistled thru the air with a loud crack.
The crowd's hunger for
death growing as Holy blood flowed down His back.
While some hit and spat at
the Son of Man, others joked and mocked Him
saying, "His fate is
in our hands now, we have won!"
With laughter, they shoved
onto His glorious head a crown of thorns
causing deep wounds, but
still the humiliation was not done.
The angry mob's shout rang
out, "Crucify this man we hate, for He is not our King!"
When the cross was put
onto His raw and bloody back,
the peoples' cheers
rose to a roar piercing Jesus' heart with an unending sting.
Looking at the
people along the streets of those who came to watch Him die,
Jesus, the Son of
God, did not see faces with murderous intent.
No, the eyes of this Good Shepard
only saw His lost blind sheep
not aware of the precious
promise the God of Abraham had now sent.
Nailing Him to the cross
causing agonizing pain, still Christ only had thoughts
of a work He wanted
to finish, the only reason He came.
Hanging on the tree our
Savior cried, "Father, forgive them; for they
know not what they
do." Because of His great love for us, He bore our sin and shame.
Jesus had left all
Heaven's glory to live among men a holy life,
to lay it down the
sacrificial lamb taking on the burden of the world's strife.
Through the suffering
Messiah's shed blood,
all who kneel in
repentance can receive Him as Savior and be forgiven.
But it's through His
victorious resurrection,
that all who call
Him Lord will one day reign
with Jesus Christ in a home called Heaven.
If you haven't received
the greatest love ever known to the world,
don't put it off another day, ask Jesus into your heart now!
He's King of Kings and Lord of Lords,
and one day very soon, whether you believe it or not, before Him every knee
shall bow.
The only choice you have in it; is whether, you want to be on bent knees in Heaven or Hell?!
Greater love hath no
man than this,
that a man lay down his life for his friends.
